Annual Report 2026 Part 1 - Children's Academic Progress

Updated: Mar 25

children residing in Tomorrow's Hope shelter for rural poor in Nias, Indonesia, beginning in 2026

Every child in Harapan Hari Esok Community is nurtured both spiritually and physically by introducing Lord Jesus Christ to them, teaching them to live by following the example of Christ, and to live depending on Him. In addition, our children are required to receive education in schools that have a partnership with us, namely at Lentera Harapan School (Lantern School of Hope), and some also at public schools within driving distance.

The children residing here total 25 people as of 20 January 2026, excluding 1 caregiver and 1 dormitory head. Those studying at the Lantern School of Hope total 20 persons. There are 2 children studying in other public schools; 1 child is enrolled in our self-started Christian Kindergarten while 1 youth is studying in Nias University.

The children residing at the shelter in 2026.
The children residing at the shelter in 2026.

While we provide the basic necessities and shelter for the children in the home, we aim to instill in them the importance of receiving education in order to develop their intellectual and social skills in a safe learning environment. With the shelter’s longstanding partnership with Lantern School of Hope (the nearest school to TH), we ensure these rural poor beneficiaries continue in their studies unabated.

Here we break down each child’s academic progress, or lack thereof, and request prayers for each of these beneficiaries:

Each child has their turn to be appointed for that night, to share in 10 minutes what they learned from a Bible chapter, after everyone reads it aloud together.

We thank our donors and supporters for the continued prayer and financial support. Where we can, we steward God's people placed in our care and are accountable for the welfare of all who come through our doors.

Stay tuned for Part 2 on the children's character development and wellbeing!
